A specialist in veterinary neurology (a “veterinary neurologist”) has fulfilled the requirements to be board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, including a 3-year residency and two rigorous examinations. 


A veterinary neurologist deals with animals with medical and surgical neurologic diseases. This encompasses neurologic disease such as:

  • spinal disease
  • seizure disorders
  • brain disease and peripheral nervous system disease
  • neuromuscular disease
